At Deseret Dermatology, our mission is simple: Help you feel confident in your skin by providing personalized care, teaching you about healthy skin practices, and offering effective solutions for preventing and treating various skin conditions. DR. TOM BARLOW
DO, DHED, FAAD, FACMS
Dr.Tom Barlow’s medical career is a testament to his dedication and passion for dermatology.
He grew up in American Fork, Utah and graduated from American Fork High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah, where he also studied ants.
He chose to go to medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, where he loved the small town feel. He fell in love with dermatology while doing an elective rotation with Dr.John Bezzant in Pleasant Grove.
Upon graduation from medical school, he began active duty service in the US Navy. He was stationed in San Diego for several tours, and also served in Iraq, Japan, Brazil, ElSalvador, Florida, and Washington. During his military career, he completed training as a Naval Flight Surgeon, residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego, where he was chief resident, and a fellowship in Mohs Surgery and procedural dermatology at Scrlpps Cllnic in La Jolla, CA. He loves teaching, and completed a Doctorate of Health Education while in the miltary.
Dr.Barlow continues to serve our military as a Nóval reservist and as a part time physician at the George A. Whalen VA Medical Center Department of Dermatology.
He is pleased to be back at home,and loves using his experience to help bring better skin health to friends and neighbors in our community. When he is not working, he likes spending time with his family and tending to bees and sheep in his backyard.

MEDICAL ASSISTANT AND HISTOTECHNICIAN
Jessica, our experienced medical assistant and histotechnician, is always ready to lend a helping hand with unwavering commitment. She brings her all to everything she does. When off duty, Jessica indulges in her passion for gardening, artistic pursuits like painting and candle making, and outdoor adventures with her kids. She has a deep affection for camping, backpacking, and a particular favorite, snowshoeing.

Janis, our cheerful medical assistant, has an infectious sense of humor that will leave you with laughter-induced cheek aches! Expect to depart with a smile after spending time with Janis. After work hours, she nurtures her love for gardening, immerses herself in captivating books, and enjoys cozy movie nights with her husband. Janis seizes any opportunity to embrace holidays, showcasing her enthusiasm for fun, quirky costumes and festive celebrations.

Shamae, our aesthetician and medical assistant, warmly welcomes guests with a friendly smile as they step through our doors. Shamae’s passion lies in boosting her patients’ confidence and celebrating their transformations, including sharing their excitement about before-and-after photos!

Meet Emma, our radiant receptionist and efficient office manager. She exudes infectious positivity. Outside of work, Emma’s world revolves around cherished moments with family and friends, capturing life through a camera lens, and occasionally hosting dance parties just for herself. She is also currently studying photography at Brigham Young University.
